SMC Strategy 01 Institutional Stop-Run Exploitation

Liquidity Sweep Reversal

Visual Anatomy: Capitalizing on institutional liquidity sweeps across key structural levels (PDH, PDL, ORH, Equal Highs/Lows) followed by violent rejection wick confirmation.

Bearish PE Setup: Buy-Side Liquidity Sweep (PDH / EQH)

Institutional Stop-Run

Large institutions cannot buy or sell huge volume at spot without moving the market against themselves. They intentionally nudge price beyond obvious levels (PDH, PDL, ORH, Equal Highs) to activate clustered retail stop-loss orders and breakout market orders.

Liquidity Absorption:

Retail buy-stops become institutional sell fills. Once filled, price sharply collapses back inside structure.

02

The Mathematical Filter

To separate genuine false-breakout sweeps from sustained breakouts, the engine evaluates strict geometric constraints:

  • ✓ Rejection Wick ≥ 30%: Wick must form at least 30% of total candle range (bonus at ≥ 45%).
  • ✓ Penetration ATR ≤ 1.8: Runaway expansions > 1.8 ATR are genuine breakouts, not sweeps.
  • ✓ Close Back Inside: Candle body must close back on the structural side of the level.
03

Asymmetric Risk-Reward

Because invalidation is pinned directly to the sweep wick extreme, stop losses are among the tightest in the system:

Stop Loss Distance: 8.0 to 18.0 points
Target 1 (+1.5R): +18 to +25 points (VWAP)
Target 2 (+3.0R): +35 to +50 points (Opposing Swing)
Target 3 (+5.0R): +70 to +95 points (Opposing Pool)
